Yacht
A recreational boat is known as a yacht. One can designate them in two varieties, namely sailing yacht and power or motor yacht.
Many people confuse yacht for a working ship. However, both the things are different. Remember that a yacht is employed for leisure purposes and not for working. In fact it has not been a long time since a yacht for luxury purposes came into being. Initially it was hard to even imagine a water vessel for class and luxury. But since the inception of power boats, something new and innovative has entered the boating industry.
Size of a yacht: The length and size of a yacht may be varying. It may be 40 ft long also and smaller than that too. Generally a term “cruiser” or a “cabin cruiser” is applied for a yacht smaller than 40 ft. The term mega yacht is used to refer to any yacht be it power or sail, and is more that 100 ft in length. Then there is a type of yacht that measures 200 ft. it is called a super yacht.
History of yacht: Initially yacht was being used by the Dutch navy to counter pirates and other trespassers in the shallow waters. The vessel came in limelight when the Charles II of England selected it as his mode of transport for his journey back home from Netherlands for restoration. After this, a yacht became a mode of transport of important and classy people. Gradually the word became popular as a mode of private transport by wealthy class as a means for racing or pleasure cruising.
What is yacht made of? In the beginning every yacht was made of wood or even steel. The larger vessels were actually made of steel. Today, there has been a tremendous difference in the materials employed to make a yacht. This may be due to advancements but the difference is indeed admirable. Wood is still in use and so is the case with steel, but the more popular materials include fiber glass, aluminum, carbon fiber, ferrocement, veneers, epoxy resins and plywood.

Sailing yacht: Again sailing yachts differ in their lengths. They can be about 20 ft also and even 100 ft. in the United States, smaller sailing yachts are often referred as sailboat and sailing is called yachting. Sailing yachts have an efficient plan for sailing that takes care of sailing even when the vessel is moving towards the wind direction. All this is due to the excellent sail plan and design of the sail yacht. Many people plan their vacations to be spent on the sailing yacht with their families. It’s a very popular way of spending vacations for most of the people.
Motor yacht: Motor yachts employ combustion engines that may be one or even two. These are used to burn the fuel. Since motor yachts use fuel for their movement, there is no doubt that they are more expensive when compared with a sailing yacht.
