Yacht Trader – find the best
There are numerous yacht trader shows where you will find the best information possible to make a purchase decision or to charter a vessel for a holiday. The level of assistance you require will depend on your competence as a sailor.
A reputable yacht trader will also be able to advise you on crew management, insurance and how to pay the all important crew.
Quality and quantity
Safety and function are vital watchwords to making your choice, biggest isn’t always best and the most stylish looking craft isn’t the best either. Test drive as many as you can, see what you are comfortable with and base your decisions wisely.
There are numerous considerations to take into account your yacht trader should have all the answers. Prepare your questions in advance, for example, where has the vessel sailed in the past? That might sound like an odd question, but adverse weather conditions can have serious effects on the performance of the yacht.
New or used
This decision might be based on your skill as a sailor and how serious you are about your passion for the sea. Let the yacht trader advise you what’s the best dollar-for-dollar deal and what your return on investment will be. Yachts like cars, unless they are classics, are not necessarily an investment for the future. Just like a car once out of the marina a new yacht loses a certain cache.
Be sure that you cover yourself for any eventuality. Check with the yacht trader that trails can be in open water for at least two hours to be sure that everything is working properly. You might also want to include a clause in the final purchase agreement with the yacht trader that you can cancel if the vessel doesn’t meet your required standards.
Always get everything in writing from your yacht trader, particularly if they are operating as a broker on behalf of the seller. If there are modifications required be sure that you agree to the mechanics or body specialists are up to standard. It’s often better to agree a reduced price if there are any defects, having the work done yourself might give better peace of mind and it’s far easier to manage.
Take a long hard look around all the local marinas and get to know the yacht trader they know all the buzz words gizmos and gossip.
