Why People go Sailing
When you hear the word sailing you can’t help but think of the ocean and the seas and these bodies of water connotes a relaxed and tranquil environment until you inject thoughts about movies such as The Perfect Storm or the Titanic. These are movies that remind us about accidents and consequences that can sometimes happen on the ocean or the seas which is why there are precautionary measures that every sailor needs to be aware of prior to setting sail and going on a sailing trip.
There are more advantages than disadvantages when you go sailing. Here are a few points to prove the point.
Relaxing. After months of living a routinary and stressful life in the office and attending to tons of workload, everyone craves to get away from it all and the primary choice to get the relaxation that they need is to be on or close to a body of water where you can detach yourself from all these stressors and recharge your energy level.
Sitting on the shore or swimming a bit is nothing compared to sailing because you can do this on a sailing trip as well and get relaxation at the maximum level because for one, you’ll get the chance to really get away from land and just hear the sound of waves, birds and enjoy the cool, fresh wind breezing through.
Technology free. When you go sailing, will you bring your laptop with you? Definitely not! If you do then you’re missing the whole point of going on a sailing trip. Sailing takes you away from computers, the internet, television, DVD players and movies, game consoles that take away quality time with humans, telephone and mobile phones. I’m not saying you can’t bring a mobile phone on a sailing trip. You can but you also have the excuse to switch it off because, depending on the area of your sailing destination, mobile frequencies can vary.
Quality time. This is one activity that allows you to really catch up with friends and family with not much external interruptions. You can just”sit and talk awhile” over a cup of coffee or a drink on deck or really enjoy a packed meal over a good conversation as well. This is also a way to help out each other doing activities pertaining to sailing like raising the sail up or pulling it down or steering. These are minor things that would mean a lot if you do it with friends or family while on a sailing trip with not much distraction.
Absolutely traffic free. This is one of the extreme benefits of sailing. You wouldn’t have to sit in a car and endure the bumper to bumper traffic. When you go sailing, you get to experience ultimate freedom on the ocean or sea because there is a zero percent chance of you getting stuck in traffic.
Fun exercises. When you go sailing, you don’t go sedentary at all. There are several activities that you can partake in like water skiing, fishing, diving, swimming or just sightseeing while cruising. At the end of the day you would even think that you need to extend your sailing trip to be able to accommodate all these possible activities in a day or two.
After all these advantages cited, need I say more? Let’s go sailing!
