Inflatable Kayak: the in-thing for kayaking

Kayaking enthusiasts have been increasing in number especially after the inflatable kayak was launched in the market. Even experienced kayakers are eventually purchasing an inflatable kayak because it is lightweight and portable.

When talking about purchasing a water transport used for leisure purposes, one definitely needs to consider its durability for safety while on the water. The word “inflatable” initially causes hesitation because inflatable simply means that it is filled up with air and when you say inflatable kayak, people stop and think if it is safe because you can never tell what you could hit on the water that could deflate your inflatable kayak.

A modern day inflatable kayak has improved by a mile as they are now suitable for rugged kayaking because it has become more manoeuvrable but maintains it’s being lightweight and portable advantage over other types of kayaks.

Inflatable kayaks nowadays are made up of abrasion and puncture-resistant rubber material coupled with polyester fabric. Even if you manage to puncture a modern day inflatable kayak, it will not deflate instantly as it now has 2 or 3 air chambers that are filled with air separately so chances are, you’ll still float on the water. Hence, the nightmare of using duct tape and doing repair patch work after hitting a floating tree branch or a rock while on the water has now been put to an end.

Professional kayakers now opt to carry with them on their trips a portable inflatable kayak so they can go on a kayak adventure anywhere in the world. It is so easy to just fold an inflatable kayak and pack it in a backpack. It only weighs less than 40 pounds and it is so compact so it is really easy to carry along with even on a plane.

In comparison to the old kayak days, kayak enthusiasts no longer need to strap their hard –shelled kayaks to the roof of their vehicles and endure a long drive to a destination close to the ocean. Upon arrival to the target destination, one has to unload his kayak and drag it towards the water. Worst case is if you aren’t parked that close to the water as dragging a kayak on land can sometimes cause damage to the kayak.

In addition to all this, new air pumps that can fill an air mattress in about 10 minutes time is available in the market and foot pumps can help fill your inflatable kayak even if you are just inches away from the water thereby reducing the stress of dragging your kayak to the water.

A new feature available to the newest inflatable kayak can have the option to have a foot rudder to aid in manoeuvrability. This is one feature of an inflatable kayak that is still not available in hard-shelled kayaks.

So whether you’re a beginner or an expert, having an inflatable kayak is definitely the best option for your kayaking adventures on a body of water and location of your choice for either a relaxing or an adrenalin-rushing adventure on water.
